Application Process    

How do I apply for graduate school?

Applying to graduate school requires time, organization, and attention to detail. Start the process early so you’ll have ample time to gather the required materials to complete your application before the admissions deadline.

How to Apply

Create an account on GraduateCAS

GraduateCAS is our graduate admissions application portal. Please click on the link for your intended entry semester to get started. Once you’ve created an account, you will be asked to

  • Add your program
  • Complete the four main application sections
  • Submit your application
  • Pay the application fee

Fall2023 Application

Select your intended program
  • You can select your intended program by going to the Add Program tab
  • Use the search box to find your program
  • Click the plus sign next to the program name to add it to your application
Fill out the Personal Information section
  • Provide biographical and contact information
  • Tip: enter an email address that you check often. This will be our primary mode of contacting you regarding your application
  • Add information about your parent/guardian (optional)
  • Complete the Texas Residency questions. Please note that your answers to these questions will determine your Texas residency status for tuition purposes. More information about the Texas Residency Section is available here
  • Answer all required questions in the remaining areas of this section
  • See the Applicant Help Center for more information about this section
Complete the Academic History section
  • Provide information about your past attendance at all institutions of higher education
  • Enter test scores (if required)
    • International applicants must enter test scores to satisfy English proficiency requirements. Contact us with any questions about this requirement.
  • Upload unofficial transcripts. You will not be required to submit official transcripts until you receive an admissions offer
  • TIP: unofficial transcripts can usually be downloaded from your student portal at most U.S. institutions

International students should contact us with any questions about transcripts

Upload a resume or curriculum vitae in the Supporting Information section
  • The Experiences and Achievement sections are optional; all the information in these sections should also be included on your resume or CV
  • Upload your resume or CV in the Documents section
Complete the Program Materials section
  • All students must complete the Questions tab
    • Thesis option and doctoral applicants, enter your faculty mentor’s name in the space indicated
    • Non-thesis option applicants, enter “Non-thesis option” in the box
  • In the Documents tab, upload a personal statement
  • In the Recommendations tab, enter contact information for recommendations. Be sure to indicate the application deadline as the due date to ensure the recommendations are received on time
Submit your application and pay the application fee
  • Please note that you will not be able to submit your application until all required sections are complete and your progress bar shows a check mark
  • Once you click Submit, you can enter your fee payment
  • The application fee is $89 for domestic students and $114 for international students
  • Be advised that the application portal accepts credit cards only. Refunds will not be issued for any reason
Track your status

You can track your status using the Check Status tab in the application portal. Application statuses are explained below:

  • Complete – all required information, documents, and recommendations have been submitted. Please note that MBAA applications without GMAT scores reported in the Academic History section are not considered complete and will not be reviewed by the committee
  • Received – all required information and documents have been submitted, but one or more recommendations are incomplete
  • In Progress – the application has been started, but some information, documents, or recommendations are missing. Students who have completed all requirements but not paid the application fee also fall under this status
Receive your decision
  • The admissions committee’s review timeline varies by program and semester.
  • You will receive your official decision letter via email once the committee review process is complete
