Information for Students who are Infected and/or Isolating

Healthcare

  • You will receive a welfare call, email, email survey or text daily from a Campus Living & Learning staff member inquiring how you are doing and if you need any assistance. Be aware that the staff member is not a health care professional. However, the staff member can help you connect with needed resources.
  • No one is allowed to move in with you to provide care (including parent). If you need a caregiver, you should move to an off-campus location where care can be provided.
  • Call 911 if you have a health emergency. EMS will respond. There is a cost for these services if transported.
  • If a student has a question about their symptoms, they can make a free call to the UTMB 24/7 Nurse Hotline: 409.722.2222
  • Student can call UTMB Family Medicine Clinic 409.772.2166
  • Student can call Health Care Hotline at 409.772.2166 when the clinic is closed to speak to a nurse who will provide advice and recommendations regarding appropriate access to care.
  • Student can contact the Office of Counseling Services who is the liaison between TAMUG and UTMB for Student Health Services. Any requests for more information or questions should be directed to:
    • Office of Counseling Services
      • Seibel Student Services Center, Suite 104

Food & Dining

Friend (not CL&L staff member) can use your student ID to get “take-out” food at a TAMUG Dining location. Your Housing Coordinator will grant your friend temporary card access.

TAMUG Dining Services can deliver hot/cold meals and drop at the student’s door (will be a cost to student). The steps below should be followed:

  1. A staff member will contact the Chartwells to let them know you are infected and/or isolating and may be requesting a hold/cold meal.
  2. A staff member will send you a Quarantined Meal Order Form via email to provide information and allow you to select your meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner). There will be an additional cost.
  3. Meals will be delivered to the front desk of your hall. Staff members from your facility will deliver food to your door.
TAMUG Dining Services can deliver bulk convenience/pantry items as well at a cost to the student. The steps below should be followed:
  • A staff member will contact the Chartwells to let them know you are infected and/or isolating and may be requesting a hold/cold meal.
  • A staff member will send you an Order Form via email to provide information and allow you to select your meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner). There will be an additional cost.

Facility Care & Custodial Care

  • Routine work orders will not be completed until 24 hours after you are no longer infected/isolating in your room.
  • If emergency maintenance/custodial (e.g. circuit breaker blown, lock doesn’t work, pipe break, sewer back up, no heat/air) needs to be done in your room, please contact your Housing Coordinator. The CL&L Staff Member will contact SSC regarding your emergency need. If SSC needs to enter your room to make the repair, you will need to be moved temporarily (to help prevent virus spread) while SSC is working in your room.
  • You can submit a work request to have custodial staff drop cleaning supplies at your door.
