Detailed Overview

The entrepreneurship minor will foster the development of a creative, visionary mindset and spirit and prepares students to be opportunity seekers and creators that identify, evaluate, and implement innovative, value-added solutions. This minor requires a total of 15 credit hours that consist of 6 hours of foundational courses plus 6 hours of discipline-specific courses and a selection of any 3-hour capstone experience (out of the current three proposed for the minor). This entrepreneurship minor will fill the growing need by offering students a strong grounding in the field of maritime business administration and logistics. This minor is conceptualized with a critical framework: the coursework encourages students not only to take an interdisciplinary approach to understand current trends in logistics, but also to critically reflect upon the methods of study they employ, and the future of maritime business administration as a field. Our department has modified services available to students enrolled via distance education, at branch campuses, or at other instructional locations.

You are highly encouraged to declare your proposed minor a year before graduation because it will be more difficult to get it added to your transcript as graduation approaches. Declaring a minor with a time period shorter than a year before graduation will still be possible, however, we recommend not waiting until the last minute. For those who have any questions about the declaration process or if anyone is experiencing difficulty with declaring this minor please get in touch with the advisor for the Maritime Business Administration Department.
