Update on Fall 2020 Semester Classes and Operations
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
We are looking forward to creating an environment that allows you to learn, teach, and work safely and successfully. Additional details were provided by Texas A&M University in College Station yesterday. Please review the information below carefully.
Students
Provost Fierke provided an update to the fall schedule and start of classes yesterday. The directions apply to us as well with slight modifications in terms of dates:
- The tentative course schedule for Fall 2020 with new course start times and new locations is now live in Howdy. While times will primarily remain as they appear, some rooms will change depending on enrollment levels.
- Open registration begins Wednesday, July 1st to add or drop courses in your schedule if you wish to do so as in previous years. Please contact your academic advisor with questions. Freshman and transfer students, please contact Academic Learning Support Services.
- Please be aware of the university’s new Bring Your Own Device policy. This requirement makes it possible for financial aid recipients to be eligible for additional funding for the purchase of a computer device and related technology.
- Details about how courses will be taught, exams, schedules, classroom safety measures and other details are provided here.
Faculty & Staff
Provost Fierke also provided an update to faculty and staff yesterday. The directions apply to us as well with slight modifications in terms of dates:
- Our schedule of class start times is posted here.
- Please be aware that the full fall schedule of courses for our campus is now available for review in HOWDY. Starting on Wednesday, July 1st, students will be able register and make changes to their fall schedule if they wish to do so as in previous years, with the exception of incoming undergraduate students (both freshman and transfer). Staff in Academic Learning Support Services will register these students. If you find any errors with respect to your class, please report to your department head immediately.
- Please also note that the university has made it a requirement for students to have access to a computer to use to complete their courses. This applies to our campus as well as it provides the necessary financial aid tools to begin to address the inequities in students’ access to technology.
We thank you for your patience in the coming weeks. Information pertaining to COVID-19 continues to change rapidly and we will continue to make decisions in the best interest of our students, faculty and staff as we prepare for the Fall 2020 semester. Rest assured that we are working quickly to address your remaining questions as soon as possible.
Thank you.
