Why Compliance Matters to Me:
Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) makes great efforts to create an environment where your student is safe and secure; physically, emotionally and financially. Our efforts do not replace the need for knowledge of the University’s rules and guidelines, and personal responsibility for decisions and actions of students. Compliance is a willingness to follow a prescribed course of action, such as laws and regulations. Compliance is not about policing people’s behavior; it is about constantly striving to understand our many and varied obligations and follow them.
Parents Compliance Resources and Responsibilities:
The following list is designed to familiarize you with some of the many issues that affect your relationship with TAMUG:
- Familiarized yourself with campus safety and emergency procedures.
- Report sexually offensive, discriminatory, and unwelcome behaviors experienced by your student immediately
- Notify the University of your student’s needs related to Disabilities.
- Maintain awareness of crime risks around campus by reviewing TAMUG Annual Security Report (Clery Act).
- Review the University programs and resources available to assist students with substance abuse problems.
- Understand how FERPA applies to the protection and handling of educational records.
- Learn how to obtain and maintain your student’s financial aid.
- Understand the expectations and responsibilities related to campus programs for minors.
- Know what to expect if your student participates in the study abroad program.
- Be familiar with the safety and security related to residence halls.
