What in your life drew you to your current field of study?

My interest in maritime and marine environmental law developed in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. I got very interested in the legal implications of this disaster, and decided to pursue this interest as a PhD project at the IMO-International Maritime Law Institute, one of the leading centers for maritime law education.

What do you hope your students gain from studying or working with you?

To understand that knowledge is power, and the ultimate goal should be to use it for the benefit of society.

What are you passionate about in your personal life?

Family.
