Exciting updates to TAMUG Group Fitness COMING SPRING 2022

Small Group Training    

For 3-6 participants. Small group training sessions last 40 minutes and focus on 3 aspects of physical fitness; cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength, and mobility. All workouts are conducted by a certified personal trainer, and small class sizes allow for all participants to receive customized workouts for all fitness levels. Regular sessions run throughout the semester. 

 

Session rates:

Participants may choose 1 - 3 class sessions to attend weekly. Each class time selected cost $15 to cover the entire semester of the chosen time slot (2 times a week for the entire semester is $30 total). Please do not choose more than one class in the same day.

 

Spring 2022 

Fall 2021 small group training will begin on Monday, February 7, 2022 and conclude on Wednesday April 20, 2022. The following class options are available for the Spring 2022 semester:

Monday 9:15am-9:55am | Monday 12:00pm-12:40pm | 4:30pm-5:10pm

Wednesday 9:15am-9:55am | Monday 12:00pm-12:40pm | 4:30pm-5:10pm

Thursday 4:30pm- 5:10pm

Friday 9:15am - 9:55am | Friday 12:00pm -12:40pm

Location and Instructor:

All small group training sessions are located in the Sea Aggie Studio, in the Sea Aggie Center (Building 3026 Room 401). Check in at the front desk of the Sea Aggie Fitness Center (Building 3026). Sessions are conducted by Fitness and Wellness Coordinator, Krissy Johnson. Krissy is a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer as well as a certified High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) instructor.

How do I sign up for group fitness classes?

No need to sign up! Group Fitness classes are open for all in the Campus Recreation Center Multi-Purpose Room.

How can I stay up to date with the group fitness class schedule?
How can I stay up to date with the group fitness class schedule?

Updates about group fitness classes such as cancelations and guest instructors will be posted on the TAMUG Campus Rec social media sites (Facebook and Instagram). Ag News emails will also be sent with important information.

Can I participate if I have never exercised before?
Can I participate if I have never exercised before?

Yes! All fitness levels are welcomed in small group training. Because class sizes are small, instructors can adjust the level of difficulty for all participants.

If I have an injury, can I participate in small group training?
If I have an injury, can I participate in small group training?

If you have a medical condition or injury, you must have doctor’s clearance to participate. At the beginning of the session that you have signed up for, instructors will ask to about any injuries. Please inform the instructor of any pain during exercise or injury that you have experienced, so that instructors can adjust workouts to avoid irritating the injury or pain.

What kind of workouts will we do in small group training?
What kind of workouts will we do in small group training?

Each workout will be different. Workouts last 20-27 minutes with a 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down. Workouts will vary in intensity and utilize functional training principles, free weights, cardio vascular training, and a large variety of exercise tools. While we may train certain movements regularly, workouts will never be repeated.

You must sign up and attend the same time for each session. If no times work with your schedule, you may asked to be put on an email list to be notified when new schedules are made.

How do I makeup a missed session?
How do I makeup a missed session?

If you miss a session and wish to make it up, you may contact and see if there is any room in another group during the week that you could participate in. You will only be guaranteed a makeup session if your regular session is canceled by the instructor.
