Fall 2020 Welcome Back

August 18, 2020

Howdy! Welcome back to Texas A&M University at Galveston!

I’d like to express a heartfelt welcome home to our returning faculty, staff, and students. And to the incoming Class of 2024, welcome aboard! The Galveston Campus is returning to life with students filling the dorms and study spaces, classes will soon be in session, vessels in the water, and physically-distanced lines forming in the coffee shops. We are excited to begin the 2020/2021 academic year after many months of uncertainty.

Fall 2020 will be much different than previous semesters. For the first time in Aggie history, we’re asking you not to “pass it back” as an act of selfless service in containing the spread of COVID-19 not only on campus, but in our communities as well. It will take all of us to have a successful return to campus. Masks are required on campus and we encourage you to wear them as you explore your island home as well. You’ll also see new safety measures in place across campus, such as physical distancing configurations, Plexiglas shields, enhanced cleaning protocols and paperless delivery methods.

Remember Aggies, that while we may be required to be physically distant, we are not socially distant. There are a number of resources available to you on and off campus to aid in your success this fall and we have spent the summer months reformatting many of our traditional student, faculty and staff activities. If you haven’t done so already, please download Texas A&M University at Galveston mobile app to stay informed on campus events, activities and information on campus operations over the coming fall.

We are fortunate to be able to come together, albeit with restrictions.  Let’s all hold true to our Core Value of Selfless Service and abide by the safety mandates asked of each of us so that we can finish this semester together on the Galveston Campus.  Thank you in advance for your willingness to do your part in making this a healthy and successful semester.

Those of you returning already know, and those of you new to the Galveston Campus will soon learn, there is no family like our Aggie Family! Welcome to Texas A&M University at Galveston!

Gig’em!
