Post-release Survival Of Blacktip Sharks

The blacktip shark, Carcharhinus limbatus, is a large coastal shark species that is commonly found in the shallow waters of the northern Gulf of Mexico. The goals of this project are to obtain capture mortality and post-release survival estimates for blacktip sharks caught in the recreational fishery throughout different regions of the Gulf using multiple approaches. This is a highly collaborative effort with colleagues at NOAA/NMFS, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, The University of Southern Mississippi, and Florida International University.
