MARB 335 - Fish Physiology (3CR; elective)

In this class students will learn about the different  physiological systems in fish. The course will focus on how these systems function and are regulated.

MARB 410 - Animal Behavior (3CR; elective)

This class discusses various behaviors observed in animals ranging from insects to elephants. We will discuss theories and concepts as well as experiments that have supported these theories.

MARB 405 - Marine Parasitology (3CR; elective)

In this class students will learn about the different parasites affecting marine animals. Focus will be on the parasites themselves and include discussions on their life-cycle; mode of transmission and which animals are hosts.

MARB 437 - Pathology of Marine Animals (3CR; elective)

We will discuss pathogens in marine animals such as marine mammals, fish and reptiles. Students will learn how to study histology, identify clinical signs and how pathogens affect the animal's physiology.

MARB 420 - Comparative Physiology (4CR; Required)

Principles of animal physiology are examined using invertebrate and vertebrate model systems. Topics include osmoregulation in marine vs. fresh water vs. terrestrial organisms, excretion, circulation, nervous system, muscle activity, sensory neurobiology, and endocrine system.
