Get To Know Joseph Faris

What in your life drew you to your current field of study?

Growing up near Galveston, the ocean played a part in almost every aspect of life. I could see myself only in the one field that would keep me on or near the water.

What do you hope your students gain from studying or working with you?

I hope to pass along a sense of pride in maintaining the traditions laid down by those before us.

What are you passionate about in your personal life?

I am very passionate about my family and working hard to provide for them at any cost. I also enjoy reading about sailing ships as they were at the turn of the 20th century and fancy rope work/decorative knot tying.
