Get To Know Jiwoong Lee

What in your life drew you to your current field of study?

I was on board for 5 years as a ship engineer. My last position was 1st class engineer on ship. At that time, I was interested in the ship's machinery, and in particular, I wanted to study more about the design of the diesel engine. So, I went to graduate school and studied ship propulsion engines. That was an opportunity for me to work as a professor at Korea Maritime and Ocean University. After that, I got an opportunity to work at Texas A&M Galveston.

What do you hope your students gain from studying or working with you?

It is important for me to study the topics I am lecturing on, but I think the attitude towards life is also very important. So, I hope to build a positive relationship between I and the students and realize knowledge and attitude together.

What are you passionate about in your personal life?

I want to enjoy a happy life with my family and hope that my children can grow up in a good environment. Personally, I like marathons. Through marathon, I can maintain my health and add vitality to my life.
