Academic Peer Coaching

Position Description

Peer Coaches assist students in developing themselves by establishing study schedules, advocating themselves, developing self- management and goal-setting skills.

Qualifications  

Students must be:

  • Currently enrolled at Texas A&M University at Galveston

  • Maintain good standing with the University at the time of application, recruitment, and employment period

  • Complete at least 24 Credit Hours at TAMUG

  • Maintain a minimum of 2.25 semester and Cumulative GPR at the time of application, recruitment, and employment term

  • Preference to commit to serving all year long ( Fall & Spring)

HU Peer Mentors
HU Peer Mentors

Position Description

 A Hullabaloo U Peer Mentor is a Texas A&M University student that supports a Hullabaloo U section. They serve as a role model, resource, and leader for first-year students. Hullabaloo U Peer Mentors work alongside faculty or staff instructors to help first-year students get involved on campus, succeed in the classroom, create a sense of belonging, and make a successful transition to Aggieland. 

Qualifications  

Students must be:

  • Be a member of the Class of ’24, '25, '26, or '27 who has completed at least 24 credit hours by the end of the Spring 2024 semester at Texas A&M Galveston; who will be enrolled at the Galveston campus for Fall 2024 semester; and whose undergraduate/graduate degree will not be completed prior to December 2024

  • Be in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, and good disciplinary standing

  • Be available to attend the assigned HU Course

Center for Academic Learning Support Front Desk

Position Description

CALS Front Desk student workers assist students, staff, and faculty in drop-in physical and virtual environments, making appropriate campus referrals, and facilitate all CALS communication across campus.

Qualifications  

Students must be:

  • Currently enrolled at Texas A&M University at Galveston

  • Maintain good standing with the University at the time of application, recruitment, and employment period 

  • Maintain a minimum of 2.25 semester and Cumulative GPR at the time of application, recruitment, and employment term

  • Available to work at least 10 hours per week during business hours

Small Group Course Support Consultants
Small Group Course Support Consultants

Position Description

Course support is student-led support for success in courses. Peer learning consultants guide learning while working through difficult course concepts and example problems in 1-On-1 and/or Small Group sessions. 

Qualifications  

Students must be:

  • Currently enrolled at Texas A&M University at Galveston

  • Must have completed at least one semester at Texas A&M University at Galveston

  • Earned a grade of a A or B in the course at TAMUG or recommended by course instructor

  • Maintain good standing with the University at the time of application, recruitment, and employment period 

  • Maintain a minimum of 3.0 semester and Cumulative GPR at the time of application, recruitment, and employment term

  • Available to attend scheduled lectures for the course

  • Available to hold sessions for at least 6 hours per week Sunday - Thursday, primarily in the afternoon and evening

Guided Group Study Course Consultants
Guided Group Study Course Consultants

Position Description

Guided Group Study provides large groups with interactive group study sessions that have been designed by our Supplemental Instructors to reinforce course content in a fun and relaxed environment. These sessions provide the opportunity to meet other students in your class and form your own study group.

Qualifications    

Students must be:

  • Currently enrolled at Texas A&M University at Galveston

  • Must have completed at least one semester at Texas A&M University at Galveston

  • Earned a grade of a A or B in the course at TAMUG or recommended by course instructor

  • Maintain good standing with the University at the time of application, recruitment, and employment period 

  • Maintain a minimum of 3.0 semester and Cumulative GPR at the time of application, recruitment, and employment term

  • Available to attend scheduled lectures for the course

  • Available to hold sessions for at least 3 hours per week Sunday - Thursday, primarily in the afternoon and evening

  • Ideal Candidates can attend 2-3 lectures for their assigned course each week.

Eligibility for Positions

  • Be enrolled at Texas A&M University at Galveston for at least 6 credit hours
  • Have at least one full year remaining at TAMUG
  • Be free of University judicial sanctions
  • Fulfill University Rules, Regulations, and Procedures
  • Participate in program and CALS events, training's, and summits 
  • Complete additional duties as assigned
  • Minimum GPA requirements vary by position type; academic good standing is required across all positions
