Chemical Safety

No matter what your position at Texas A&M University at Galveston, you will likely have to handle a chemical product in the course of your job duties at one time or another. From office supplies such as Whiteout to WD-40 each chemical we use may have a special hazard associated with it. It is incumbent on the user to educate themselves to the special hazards associated with the chemicals they use. A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) can tell you the hazards associated with a chemical and any special precautions that should be taken. In addition, the  MSDS contains emergency steps that should be taken should an exposure occur.
