Dee Ann Haney

Dee Ann came to Texas A&M University at Galveston with over 27 years of experience in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, and emergency management. She sat on console for seven shuttle launches while working in aerospace for United Space Alliance; advised the Company Crisis Management Team; and assisted with preparation for and recovery after Hurricanes Rita, Gustav, and Ike along with other tropical systems. Dee Ann was honored on multiple occasions for teamwork and safety, and a NASA astronaut presented her with a Silver Snoopy award for human flight safety and mission success.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Hygiene and Safety from University of Houston Clear Lake and a Master of Science in Technology with a concentration in Emergency Management from Arizona State University. Her professional designations include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Certified Texas Emergency Manager (TEM), and Safety Management Specialist (SMS). In 2016, she was chosen as one of College of the Mainland’s Distinguished Alumni.
Currently, Dee Ann serves as the Safety Coordinator providing oversight for lab safety, occupational safety, sustainability, student/employee safety training, and storage and disposal of hazardous materials. She brings a wealth of diverse experience and knowledge along with a strong safety ethic to TAMUG.
Dee Ann volunteers in the community and serves on the Texas City Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment, the Texas City/La Marque Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club of Texas City.
She is a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Texas City and serves on the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Council.
