Dr. Dakota Doman    

Chief of Staff, Texas Southern University

Dr. Dakota Doman joined Texas Southern University (TSU) as Chief of Staff in March 2022. Prior to his arrival at TSU, he served as the Senior Director for Policy Development and Strategic Implementation at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board where he led various agency initiatives pertaining to Academic and Health Affairs, College Readiness and Success, Digital Learning, and Workforce Education.

 In 2016, Dakota was named Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. He led a team of dedicated practitioners that enrolled the largest first-year class in the 140-year history of the institution! This team also increased retention rates by 15% during his tenure as Vice President. Under his leadership, Philander Smith College was ranked the number one fastest-growing Historically Black College and University by the United Negro College Foundation and was recognized as the fastest growing institution in the state of Arkansas by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.

Earlier in his career, Dakota served as an Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment at West Virginia State University, Director of Student Life and Services as the University of Houston-Victoria, and Director of Student Activities and Civic Engagement at Lamar University where he is a proud, two-time alum earning a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Master of Business Administration before earning his Doctorate in Higher Education from Texas Tech University.

 Dakota and his wife Ashly are the proud parents of two Shiba Inus, Riggins and Rogue.
