How do I start a Club Sport?
How do I start a Club Sport?
To become a Club Sport, you must first become a recognized student organization. Go to the Student Organizations page for more information. Once you become an established student organization, you will be invited to apply to become part of the Club Sports Program. This is due to the limited number of resources available to Club Sports.
How do I join a Club Sport?
How do I join a Club Sport?

At the beginning of each semester (usually the first Thursday of a semester, unless moved to Tuesday because of a Texas A&M Football Game) Student Activities offers an organizations night. This event is to showcase the many student led organizations and activities available to students during their time at Texas A&M Galveston. Club Sports will be present, showcasing their clubs and recruiting interested members.

After organizations night, the best way is to go to the current clubs above and contact the club's president for information to join the team.

How are Club Sports different than Intramural Sports?
How are Club Sports different than Intramural Sports?
Club Sports are student led organizations recognized by the university with the purpose of competing and representing the university in intercollegiate competition. Intramural Sports are sport leagues that are catered to the general student body. In Intramural Sports there is less of an emphasis placed on the competitive nature, and participants only compete against members of the same university community.
Do I need Health Insurance to participate in a Club Sport?
Do I need Health Insurance to participate in a Club Sport?

Texas A&M University at Galveston does not require health insurance, but highly recommends students possess it in some form as there is a level of risk in participating in sports.

Texas A&M University at Galveston does not insure students who are injured during participation in any club sport related activity. Texas A&M University at Galveston has a unique partnership with UTMB in the absence of a student health center on campus. For those who wish to enroll in an insurance plan, if they are not already, a student health plan is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. Information regarding the insurance plan can be found here: http://tamug.myahpcare.com/.
