Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Scholarship

LSAMP Logo

Texas A&M University System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (TAMUS LSAMP), funded by the National Science Foundation, is part of a national initiative to increase the number of underrepresented minority students successfully completing high quality degree programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines and to encourage students to matriculate into graduate programs.

Each LSAMP awardee will receive a scholarship of $1,000 per semester.  Scholarships can be held for either 1 or 2 semesters. Scholarship renewal from the Fall to Spring semester will depend on successful recommendation of the Faculty sponsor and demonstration of appropriate progress. LSAMP awardees will be eligible to apply for funds to cover travel to a conference. Supported students will be strongly encouraged to apply to the TAMU LAUNCH Undergraduate Research Scholars Program. Each student will be expected to participate a minimum of 180 research hours split between Fall and Spring and to present their research results at the TAMUG Student Research Symposium (Spring), the LSAMP Symposium, and/or other professional conferences. A maximum of one student application per Faculty member will be considered (under exceptional circumstances such as a collaborative project or a limited number of Faculty sponsors, more than one student per professor may be considered). Selection of students will be based on meeting the eligibility criteria listed below, the quality of the narrative, and letters of support from the Faculty sponsor.
