Texas A&M University at Galveston Mardi Gras Viewing Party, Dinner and Dance Impacts Lives Long Past Fat Tuesday    

Texas A&M University at Galveston will hold its 4th annual Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Party, Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Tremont Ballroom in the Davidson Building of The Tremont House, 2300 Ship's Mechanic Row in Galveston.

For more than 30 years, George P. Mitchell, a 1940 graduate of Texas A&M University, hosted Galveston’s premier Mardi Gras Ball and Parade Viewing Party at The Tremont House.  This event began with the grand opening of The Tremont House on February 16, 1985.  In 2015, this traditional Mardi Gras event ushered in a new era in memory of George P. Mitchell when Texas A&M Galveston hosted the first A&M Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Party.

The event, generously underwritten by The Tremont House, includes complimentary valet parking with a casual and lively evening of dining, dancing and prime viewing of the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade alongside Reveille, the First Lady and mascot of Texas A&M University.

The A&M Mardi Gras event benefits the George P. Mitchell Society and has provided support funding for a permanent undergraduate scholarship each year.  The Society is comprised of individuals and organizations committed to the well-being of the oceans, seas and waterways through maritime and marine research, education and training.  The George P. Mitchell Society supports student scholarships and activities, faculty and various programs at Texas A&M Galveston.
