Lady Gaga album review

By Analisa Jennings ‘28

Lady Gaga released her new album, Mayhem, on March 7.

Gaga’s album is very typical of her techno-pop sound many fans have come to love. Some fans via social media have rejoiced that “old Gaga is back.”

While wildly popular so far and gaining traction from her songs “Abracadabra” and “Disease,” this album is just about average length at 53 minutes.

Apart from the more popular songs on this album, this album was not a standout album for me.

“Abracadabra” and “Disease” are worth the praise they have received, as they are very reminiscent of the early Gaga discography.

However, most of the other tracks are basic and not worth noting. Plain and simple pop tunes with lyrics that do not have the same intensity that classic Gaga has, such as “I’m a killah, and boy you’re gonna die tonight.”

If she would have carried her same energy for the whole tracklist and increased the length, it would be more enjoyable.

Decent listen, but I am only likely to listen to one or two songs again. The album is not something I would recommend to people either. Overall, the album is not a favorite of mine.

3 out of 5 stars.
