On August 25th thousands of lives in Southeast Texas were changed. College students and their families’ lives were disrupted, many have not fully recovered. As the impact of the storm became evident, it became equally evident that intervention would be necessary to help students return to school. Classes were delayed, Texas A&M University at Galveston was closed and temporarily relocated to College Station. Faculty and staff were mobilized to meet the needs of our struggling students. Most students did return, but some withdrew. Even those who did return to their studies continue to struggle with personal and financial challenges preventing their success.
Funds will be dedicated to providing scholarships to current, returning, and potential students from the impacted counties who have continued their education at Texas A&M University at Galveston, stopped-out/withdrawn from one of the Texas A&M University System universities, or have delayed pursuing their education (admitted prior to Harvey but did not attend due to the storm).
