Additional Details Concerning Howdy Week 2 & 3, O-Week & Move-In Adjustments

August 11, 2021

Earlier this week we were notified of a positive COVID-19 case among our Howdy Week and SALT Camp staff. Most of our other counselors have been working closely with this individual. They are now considered to be “close contacts” and must immediately go into quarantine. This situation has forced us to make the difficult decision to cancel Weeks 2 and 3 of SALT Camp. An email was sent to student accounts informing them of the situation on Monday, Aug. 9.

Students scheduled for these weeks may complete the residence hall move-in process to drop off items on their scheduled day if desired. Students who would like to drop items off on an alternate date after their assigned time can request that through the “early arrival” application found where they applied for housing. Students who are currently on campus for week 2 must return home after completing their move-in process.

Students who are attending both Howdy Week 3 and O-Week are asked to move-in at their originally scheduled date and leave, if able and local, or change move-in plans to arrive on August 21. Howdy Week 3 campers who are not attending O-Week should plan to move in on their originally scheduled date and leave, if able and local, or change move-in plans to arrive between Aug. 27-29. Students who experience difficulty adjusting to these arrangements should contact their Housing Coordinators (see housing assignment email) to make other arrangements. Students who need to remain on campus will not have access to Chartwells Dining Services, however, we will aid students who reach out to their Housing Coordinators to ensure their basic needs are met.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. We will be using this time to create a plan for students to get the Howdy Week and SALT Camp experience when they return to campus for the fall semester.

Thank you for your understanding as we navigate the emerging COVID-19 situation.
