Description:
Founded in 2014, the Graduate Ambassador Program serves as an opportunity for student leaders to act as liaisons for the Graduate Studies Office in the roles of recruiter and advocate for the Galveston graduate student population.
Purpose:
As recruiters, ambassadors play a critical role in promoting Texas A&M University Galveston Campus to prospective graduate students. Our Ambassadors lead tours, participate in graduate fairs, and address prospective student questions via email. As advocates, ambassadors are the eyes and ears of the graduate student body. They bring concerns and issues to the Graduate Studies Office. In addition, they assist with events that promote the graduate student community like Howdy Lunch and Graduate Student Appreciation Week.
Awards:
Each ambassador will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the academic year as well as a Graduate Ambassador polo and magnet name badge. The award is split over two semesters ($500 in fall and $500 in spring). If an ambassador does not meet the 15 volunteer hour requirement in the fall semester, the scholarship will not be paid out during the spring semester.
Requirements:
Each semester, an ambassador should work 15 hours. Hours can be gained through mandatory events, optional events, and email correspondences to prospective students.
Applications can be found in the Graduate Studies Office.
