The Big Event is the nation’s largest one-day, student run community service project in the nation. Originally started in College Station in 1982, it was a way for the University to give something back to the community that is so supportive. In 1994, this Aggie Tradition was started in Galveston.
The 2002 Big Event boasted 162 students, faculty, and staff…the biggest ever! Volunteers completed projects at Galveston City Hall, schools, parks, YMCA, and the recycling center.
