Constitution
of
the
Texas
A&M at Galveston Circle K Club
The name of this student organization shall be known as the Texas A&M
at Galveston Circle K
Club.
Section I. Purpose
The purpose
shall be to promote student involvement in the Galveston community
through
volunteer work.
Section II. Goal
The major
goal shall be to improve all aspects of the Galveston community through
volunteer
work offered by the Texas A&M at Galveston students.
Section I. Selection
Process
Applications
for members will be taken throughout the academic year.
There shall be no
limit as
to the number of members.
Section II. Attendance
Attendance
at all meetings is mandatory. Only
University recognized excuses will be
accepted. No
more than three unexcused absences will be allowed per semester.
Section III. Removal
Procedures
Any member
or officer having three unexcused absences a semester shall be removed from the
organization.
A quorum of 50% + 1 must be present at the meeting and a 2/3 vote must
be
obtained in order to remove the individual.
Section I. Requirements
for Officers
The officers
of this organization must meet the following requirements: a) have at least a
2.0
overall GPR at the time of their election and post at
least a 2.0 GPR for the preceding regular
semester or the two preceding summer terms at the
time of election and the term of office; b) be in
good standing with the University and enrolled in at
least six credit hours in a regular semester
during the term of office; and c) be subject to
removal from office by the organization and/or the
organization’s official University advisor should the
student fail to maintain the requirement as
prescribed in (a) and (b).
Section II. Officers and
Duties
President
– shall preside over regular and executive meetings, coordinate group
activities, and
communicate
with the officers and advisor on all matters.
Vice President – shall assist president and preside
over the meetings in the absence of the
president.
Secretary – shall record minutes at all business
meetings, check attendance at functions, and receive and review excuses for
absences.
Treasurer – shall collect dues, pay bills, oversee
other monetary transactions including fund raising and social activities, and
prepare and maintain budget.
Elections shall be held at the first regular meeting during the month of April. A quorum must be present, and a simple majority vote will win; newly elected officers shall assume responsibility at the first meeting in the fall semester.
Refer to Article III, Section IV; another election to fill the vacancy will be held immediately.
Section I.
Regular
meetings shall be held every other Wednesday of the month at 9pm.
Section II.
A quorum
shall consist of one half of the members plus one (50% + 1) of the membership
and
must be present to conduct official business.
Section I.
Dues hall be
determined per academic year and will be collected from all members of this
organization.
Section II.
All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account
established for this organization by the Office of Student Activities. All funds must be deposited
within 24 hours after collection. The advisor to this organization must approve and sign each
expenditure before payment.
Article VII. Amendments and Revision
Section I.
This constitution may be amended at any time by a 2/3 vote of the active membership, subject to
the approval of the Director of Student Activities.
Section II.
This document must be reviewed every two years and resubmitted to the Office of Student
Activities.
