Employee of the Month

March 2013

Carolyn Herman
Senior Office Associate

RGSO

Comment Submitted:  Carolyn has a warm smile and filled candy dish for all visitors to the Research and Graduate Studies office.  She puts a great deal of efforts into the Student Research Symposium.  Her work starts long before the symposium in late April.  Her contribution is invaluable and it is amazing how she juggles all of the different parts while printing last minute posters.  She has also been providing administrative support for ACEN.  She is relatively new but an important addition to the office and the university.

Additional comments: For the past three years, Carolyn has helped us with organizing and putting on the TAMUG Student Research Symposium.  Each year she goes above and beyond the call of duty to help us organize the event.  In fact, Carolyn and Holly, have it so well organized, that my involvement is almost incidental.  In addition to taking care of much of the detail in terms of organizing the event, she also oversees the collection of the applications and abstracts and also makes sure all of the posters are printed.  In additions to the Student Research Symposium, she also does this for the TAMUG NSF REU Symposium in the summer.  With both events, they go off smoothly because of Carolyn’s hard work taking care of the details behind the scenes.  In addition to her hard work, Carolyn is always a pleasure to work with; she is always organized, happy and anticipates most of the problems before they become “issues”.  I would not agree to continue chairing the Research Symposium if Carolyn was not involved, she is just that valuable.  So, she has my highest recommendation for this award.
