Career-Oriented Summer Programs for High Ability
Students in Grades 9-12
TAG, a summer program for high ability
students in grades 9-12 is being offered this summer at Texas A&M University at
Galveston. These career-oriented courses will help students expand their
horizons with a preparatory course in the field of their choice. Early exposure
to the career of their interest will enable them to make better course decisions
in the future.

you read radiographs to diagnose the lesion? You will after your
Galveston Island experience! ($900)

a trebuchet (see photo gallery below), field trip to NASA, field
trip to an oil rig museum w/hands-on activities, and engineering
class with college students. ($900)

Marine Biology Research: July
27 - August 2
Discover marine biology
by exploring the diverse habitats of Galveston Island and the
challenges to moving on a barrier island. Wade in the salt marshes
of Galveston Bay and learn why this is our most valuable resource.
Collect pelagic and benthic organisms aboard the research vessel R/V
Milan and discuss their importance to the food web of Galveston Bay.
Learn about endangered sea turtles and visit the sea turtle
hatchery. Learn about marine mammals of the Gulf of Mexico and help
conduct dolphin surveys. Using the vast resources of Galveston, we
will integrate taxonomy, physiology, ecology and behavior of marine
animals in their natural environment. This course is designed for
students seeking a "hands on" approach to the marine environment as
most activities are field oriented. Students will also design an
original project to be presented at the end of the TAG session.

professions, giving them the ultimate pre-medicine experience.
Students will learn tips about how to be successful in getting
accepted to medical school as well as learn about the M.D./Ph.D.
