Ocean Careers Awareness ages 15-18

This program combines hand-on experience relating to careers in the marine environment and introductions to persons employed in a wide variety of jobs. Past schedules have included working in seagrass beds at Christmas Bay with Dr. Peter Sheridan (a National Marine Fisheries scientist), "worming" with Dr. Judy Wern, doing water quality studies with Dr. Donald Harper, touring "behind-the-scenes" at Moody Gardens Aquarium, performing a mark and recapture study with Dr. Jay Rooker's graduate students, and trawling from the research vessel. Students met a successful environmental lawyer at his west bay camp and many other persons in careers directly or peripherally related to the marine world.
