Salt Marsh Tours

Texas A&M University at Galveston's salt marsh field trips provide a "hands-on" opportunity to learn about this unique aquatic habitat on Galveston Island. Our guides are marine biologists familiar with salt marsh ecology.

Our salt marsh trips provide an introduction to the coastal marsh community of a typical Gulf Coast barrier island. Food webs and energy flow to the salt marsh are compared to the sandy beach environment. Nursery functions of the salt marsh are emphasized. Students use seines to sample representative fish and invertebrate species. The best way to study this habitat is to get in! Be prepared to get muddy and wet!
