RECOGNITION: All Sea Camp Supporters for 2008 will be listed on our website, unless supporter wishes to not be formally recognized. All Sea Camp Supporters will receive a “SEA CAMP SPONSOR” decal to display showing your support of our programs.
I would like to introduce you to Texas A&M Sea Camp, a summer camp designed for students with interests in marine studies and ecology. Founded in 1986, Sea Camp has opened up the world of marine biology to over 11,500 campers and 1,300 educators participating in internships. We provide a unique “hands-on feet wet” experience on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Participants come to Sea Camp from across the United States and other countries to take advantage of Galveston’s natural haven for birds, marsh inhabitants, and marine life. Taught on location at Texas A&M Galveston by professional university staff, students have access to research vessels, oceanographic equipment, laboratory facilities. This weeklong adventure allows students to work toward future careers in marine biology, ecology, and conservation by participating in inquiry-based activities.
Sea Camp depends upon the generosity of individuals, foundations, service groups, and corporations who believe, along with us, that our ability to make a difference in our environment begins with education. Each year, we see families struggle financially to send their child to camp. The cost of one child to enjoy one week of marine biology camp is $775.00 which includes all housing, meals, educational excursions, classroom activities, and materials. We have not raised this tuition in 4 years, and would like to continue to keep tuition as affordable as possible. It is our goal to raise additional funds for scholarships designated to students in financial need.
Please consider a way to help us provide for the Sea Campers of today and future leaders of tomorrow.
1. Sea Camp Monthly Giving Program: There are two major advantages to monthly giving. First, it slips easily into your budget. As a monthly donor, you can give as little as $10.00 a month and by the end of the year you will have painlessly contributed $120.00 to Texas A&M Sea Camp. The second advantage is that your monthly pledge gives Sea Camp a dependable source of income to fund various year-round youth programs.
The minimum pledge is $10.00 a month, however if you can give more, please contribute as generously as you can. Contributions to the monthly giving program may be made by credit or debit card. If for any reason you wish to increase, decrease or suspend your gift, please call the Sea Camp office and we will happily assist you.

When sea campers, counselors, and staff are dressed in their sea camp t-shirts, they are a sight not to be missed! Our bright shirts and bright logo make for conversation starters wherever we go, and sea camp loves to travel.
Our programs have local destinations such as: Galveston, Lake Jackson, Matagorda, La Marque, Clear Lake, Houston, The Woodlands, College Station, Corpus Christi, and Padre Island but we also travel to Belize, Costa Rica, and Alaska!
The highest percentage of our campers visit from the Houston/Galveston area, but we do draw students from Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, different states and other countries. In 2007 alone we had campers visit from Norway, France, South Korea, and Scotland.
When traveling I always wear my sea camp t-shirt. I have been stopped so many times in airports to answer questions about our programs that I have missed flights!
With our Platinum Level Corporate Sponsor Program, you can be noticed too! You will have company logo advertisement on the back of our t-shirts. C’mon get noticed!

Come enjoy the Sea Camp experience!
The Corporate Sea Camper for a Day Program allows you an inside view to what sea camp is all about. During the day you will get wet in a variety of “hands-on feet in” experiences because at Texas A&M University at Galveston… The Ocean is our Classroom!
Your day’s activities:
Marsh Trip – Trek through the Sportsman’s Road Salt Marsh for a look at all the animals living there. Learn about the adaptations in plants and water fowl that call this area home. Seine through the waters and identify different species of fish. Learn about this “nursery” environment and why it is important to preserve.

Research Vessel – Board the R.V. Earl Milan, a Texas A&M Galveston research vessel, and tour the Galveston Ship Channel. Tow a net on a “catch and release” mission to see native fish species and view friendly dolphins who ride alongside the vessel. Learn how to measure visibility, take soil samples, and use equipment to identify microscopic creatures in our waters. Discuss the difficulties in maintaining a balance between industrial progress and environmentalism.

Shark Dissection – How long has it been since you’ve been in science class? Visit our outdoor classroom and see science in a whole new way. Dissect a shark alongside your peers with guidance from a Sea Camp instructor. Learn about shark anatomy and what makes these fascinating cartilaginous creatures far different from bony fish.
