REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Friday: Day one began with light winds, ranging from 0 to 6 knots. The weather was sunny with temperatures ranging from 40 to 60 degrees. Racing was called at 3:30 p.m., due to lack of winds after one race was completed. Competitors attended a dinner friday night sponsored by the International Star Class, where speaker Mark Mendelblatt gave a history of his sailing career from his years in collegiate sailing at Tufts University up to his Star Class sailing today, including his Laser Olympic Campaign in 2004. He also provided an interesting story of his experience sailing at the Sloop Champs at Gull Lake Yacht Club in 1993 for Tufts.

Saturday: Racing began at 10 am, with sunny skies, temperatures in the 40's and winds ranging from 0 to 6 knots. Three windward leeward courses were completed before competitors took a break for lunch. Winds built up to 10 knots out of the S-SW for 3 more races in the afternoon. Temperatures were in the low 60's. Four windward leeward courses were completed and two Olympic courses were sailed by the end of racing on Saturday. Two protests were heard Saturday evening over the same incident in Race 3 resulting in a DSQ for Connecticut College. In Race 3, both Texas A&M Galveston and Harvard University received a 20% Penalty. Texas A&M Galveston and St. Mary's College took 20% Penalties in Race 7.

Sunday: Sunny skies greeted sailors for the third day in a row with temperatures in the upper 60's. Winds started at 6 knots and increased to 17 knots out of the southwest by the second race today. Three windward-leeward courses were sailed on Sunday to complete the round-robin. Two breakdown reports and one request for redress were heard by the judges.
