SEISA Sloop Championships 2004

(10.30.04 - 10.31.04) Fort Worth Boat Club, TX

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:

Saturday: Sunny and Warm, no wind to speak of. A very light (0-3) northerly due to a stalled cold front made racing nearly impossible. Only one race (and I use the term loosely) was completed before lunch. After more than 3 hours under AP another race was attempted around 4:30 and abandoned at the first windward mark. No more drifting was attempted Saturday. Thank you to the RC and sailors for being so patient.

Sunday: Partly cloudy and warm, shifty puffy 8-18kt south-westerly. With the front moving again and perfect racing conditions the boats were on the water by 9am. Four excellent races were completed. The sailing was tight, competitive, and friendly. There were no protests and no damage for the weekend, there were several OCS's. This was also the trial run for SEISA's regatta coach program, having an independent professional come to coach every team. We hope this was a success and that the teams got something out of it, thank you to Jake Scott and Quantum Sail Design Group for giving your time.

Thanks to the Fort Worth Boat for the use of their J-22's and their hospitality, this was the first collegiate regatta at FWBC. Thanks also to Karen Smith (Regatta Chair), Max Scott (PRO), Findlay Higgins, Barbara Porter, Hank Billman and all of the FWBC members and staff for making this regatta possible.
