Fire Extinguisher Inspections

All campus fire extinguishers are inspected in full compliance with National Fire Protection Association, Chapter 10 - Standards for Portable Fire Extinguishers. Visual inspections occur monthly and each extinguisher is certified annually by a licensed contractor. In addition, each extinguisher is internally checked and refilled every six years, with a full hydrostatic (pressure) test occurring every 12 years. Note: It is against University policy to tamper with or discharge a fire extinguisher in any manner not consistent with it's intended use.
