Student Research Week is an opportunity for the research community of Texas
A&M to join together and showcase the breadth and quality of student research
being conducted on our campus. Graduate Student Council (GSC) sponsors the
annual event as a way to promote the importance of research in our community.
Registration is now open for the 11th Annual Student Research Week! Events
take place from March 24, 2008 through March 28, 2008. Competition days will
be held on Tuesday, March 25- Thursday, March 27.Registration deadline is

Undergraduate Research Scholars
The Office of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Research wishes to
announce the upcoming deadline for the 2008-09 Undergraduate Research Scholars
Program. The goal of this program is to encourage capable undergraduates to
participate actively in research projects and to give them the opportunity to
communicate their research findings as principal authors to the university's
research community. To qualify for participation in this program, students
must have completed at least 60 hours of undergraduate courses with at least
24 hours at TAMU (or with the approval of the students' Dean) and have and
maintain TAMU GPRs of 3.0 or higher. If you have a student working in your lab
who you feel would benefit from this program, we urge you to work with them in
preparing an application for this program. The deadline for applications for
the coming academic year is April 11, 2008.
Postings listed by deadline date:
Office of Undergraduate Research-TAMU
Most departments have adopted course designations XXXX-291
and XXXX-491 for students participating in undergraduate research for credit.
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in this framework in order to
allow for adequate assessment of students engaged in research across campus,
and to keep faculty involved in undergraduate research informed of new
programs in development. Formal participation in these research courses
is the easiest avenue for entrance into the Undergraduate Research Scholar
Program, which provides students the opportunity to complete an undergraduate
research thesis in their home department.

Title: Summer Intern Program SYNOPSIS: The basis of the Summer Intern Program
is a highly individualized research experience for each student coupled with
group activities. As an intern in the VIMS/SMS program, students will work

develop an individual project. Depending on the project, the summer may involve
lots of 'hands-on' experience in the field or laboratory, or both.
Interns are expected to work with their mentors to develop a project idea in
the form of a brief research prospectus, conduct their research, and then
present results in a final program that is open to the VIMS community. Interns
also prepare a summary research paper that is maintained in the program
archives. In some cases, this has been the basis for a subsequent publication in
the scientific literature. E-mail:
