Research Interests:

The goal of my research is to understand complex life cycles of marine and estuarine fishes, especially as they relate to the management and conservation of critical habitats and fishery resources. I am particularly interested in spatial variability in vital rates of growth and mortality and how these rates are linked to ontogenetic niche shifts and individual movements between nurseries and adult habitats. Further, I am interested in how variability in adult migration relates to spatial patterns of fishery exploitation and the timing, location, and extent of reproduction. Ultimately, I wish to advance knowledge of the linkages between recruitment and adult migrations in order to understand how these processes interact to regulate population dynamics, and then to
provide life history information to state and federal managers to support conservation of natural resources.
