Weight Room Guidelines

Cardio/Weight Room Guidelines

  • Tank tops or T- shirts must be worn

  • Do NOT wear jewelry

  • Crosstrainers, fitness or tennis shoes must be worn. NO SANDALS or BARE FEET

  • Bring a towel to wipe down all equipment when you are finished

  • Warm up properly before lifting

  • ALWAYS use a spotter when lifting free-weights

  • Use collars to insure that weights are tightly secured to the bar and will not slip off an unbalanced bar.

  • Return and rack weights when finished

  • Do not use weights or machines until you are familiar with proper biomechanical technique for a particular exercise. (Faculty can help with technique)

  • Do not jerk or twist when you lift as these movements increase stress and risk of injury

  • Do not slam or drop the dumbbells or plate loaded bar on the floor

  • Do not drop or slam the weight plates on the machines

  • Please be courteous and allow others to "work in" or take turns


The weight room is no place to play!!
