Galveston meal plans cannot be used in College Station.

5.  If I am a visiting parent, can I eat in the cafeteria?

You may either use a guest meal provided on your student's meal plan, or pay cash upon entry.

6.  Which meal plan is the most commonly selected by students?

The most commonly selected meal plan is the 15 meal plan.  However, be sure that your student considers their schedules (class, work, etc.) before selecting.

7.  Who can use the guest meals?

Guest meals can be used by any individual entering the cafeteria with your student.

8.  Can a student eat any combination of meals using the any 5 or any 10 meal plan?

Any combination of meals can be eaten using the any 5 or any 10 meal plan.  A student may eat breakfast and lunch on one day and lunch and dinner on the next, etc..

9.  Can the meal plan be used in the Galley?

The dining hall, to include the Galley, is an "all you can eat facility" and a student's meal plan can be used in the Galley.  However, if a students elects to take a carry out meal, unlimited serving does not apply to the carry out meal.

10.  Does Dining Services offer an alternative for students on a meal plan that may be off campus for the day, a class assignment, field trip, etc.?

If a student will inform a member of the Dining Services Management Team that he/she will be off campus during a meal, the student can have a to-go meal prepared and ready for pick up and an agreed upon time.

11.  Can Dining Services accommodate special requirements for diets, allergies, etc.?

Any student with a special requirement should meet with the Director of Dining Services or the Business Coordinator to discuss his/her need.  These staff members are able to provide information regarding the products used in the dining hall as well as how a meal is prepared.  In addition, Dining Services will work very hard to accommodate the special needs of a student as long as proper documentation is submitted substantiating the basis for the accommodation.

12.  Can a student with a special dietary need be exempted from the requirement to purchase a meal plan?

First, Dining Services wants to work very hard to meet the needs of a student's diet.  A student with a special dietary need will be asked to provide appropriate documentation (generally, a medical doctor's or dietician's note) substantiating the special dietary need.  If Dining Services cannot accommodate the request, then a student may be exempted from the requirement to purchase a meal plan.  However, please keep in mind that cooking is only allowed in Albatross and Polaris Halls, which house Texas Maritime Academy cadets.  Accommodation for students housed in Oceans, Hullabaloo or Mariner Hall who are exempted from a meal plan may include the option to live off campus.
