News

2008 On June 6, 2008 the Cynthia Woods capsized while participating the the Regata de Amigos from Galveston to Vera Cruz, Mexico. 

Safety Officer Roger Stone died in the accident.  Five other crew members were rescued by the Coast Guard.  Those crew members are students Steven Guy, Joseph Savana, Ross Busby, and Travis Wright and safety officer Steven Conway. 

The Texas A&M University System and the United States Coast Guard are conducting investigations into what caused the accident.  Additional details may be found here.  The Offshore Sail Team has been grounded pending the outcome of the investigation.
