Texas A&M University at Galveston’s 4th annual Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Party was once again a huge success thanks to supportive community members, sponsors, and attendees.

Not only does the A&M Mardi Gras event provide a perfect venue to celebrate with family and friends, but it also raises support for the campus through the George P. Mitchell Society.  A new permanent undergraduate scholarship has been established each year with a portion of the event proceeds.  More than $80,000 was raised from this year’s event.

Texas A&M Galveston, and the students who benefit from these scholarships, owe a debt of gratitude to the Tremont House, A Wyndham Grand© Hotel, who generously underwrites the event each year.  A heartfelt thank you is extended to the 2018 honorary chairs, Melanie and Col. Michael E. Fossum `80, Marilyn and Keith McFatridge and Janice and Victor Pierson, along with committee chairs, Marilyn McFatridge, Phyllis Milstein, Marie Robb and Kelly Teichman.

The tireless efforts and unwavering support of Steve Cunningham, Complex General Manager, Marty Miles, Hotel Manager and Food & Beverage Director, and countless members of the Tremont staff, are critical to the success of the event.

Special recognition also to this year’s event table sponsors: Linda and Bryon Bills Afton Incorporated, Bay-Houston Towing, Bromberg Charitable Trust, Center for Texas Beaches and Shores, Challenger Drilling, Inc., Classic Auto Group Galveston, Marylyn and Steve Comstock, Jo Ellen and Bob Dietz `71, Patty and Milton Frank, Hawkins Lease Service, Inc. / E. Square Marine, Bill Hearn, Houston Pilots, Mollie and Bill Laird, Kate and Ken Marx, Marilyn and Keith McFatridge, Phyllis and Dr. Bernie Milstein, Moody National Bank, Janice and Victor Pierson, Marie and Chris Robb, The Teichman Family, Texas International Terminals / Callan Marine, and Elizabeth and Ken Theut.  Special thanks to Marie and Chris Robb for their donation of the throw beads sold at the event.
