Texas A&M Galveston recognizes inaugural class of Terry Foundation Transfer Scholars    

Texas A&M University at Galveston is pleased to recognize Reagan Froncek as one of the inaugural class of The Terry Foundation Transfer Scholars. Reagan began her college experience at Galveston College after graduating from the AIM College and Career Prep Academy in Galveston and is now majoring in the Galveston Campus' business program, Maritime Administration.
As of fall 2016, Texas A&M University at Galveston has three Terry Foundation transfer scholars and 41 traditional scholars. These scholarships are instrumental to facilitate Texas students to pursue higher education and provide leadership and service to the State.

The Terry Foundation was founded by Howard and Nancy Terry. Howard L. Terry attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned his B.B.A. degree in 1938. He attended the University on a football scholarship and always credited that scholarship as one of the most important events in his life. After serving in the U.S. Navy as a P.T. Boat captain during World War II, he worked for Proctor and Gamble as a general manager. In 1951, he went into business for himself and had a successful career in lumber, construction and development, and oil and gas exploration. In 1987, Terry and his wife Nancy founded the Terry Foundation which is now sponsoring almost 1700 Terry Scholars at thirteen Texas colleges.  Despite his many successes in the business world, Terry called the Foundation his greatest accomplishment.

Dr. Donna Lang is the Associate Vice President for Academic Operations at the Texas A&M Galveston campus. According to Dr. Lang, scholarships are awarded on the basis of leadership, service, financial need, academic achievement and personal accomplishment. "Our branch campus provides a great environment for students who are first in their family to attend college, and scholarships are an important tool in helping these students reach their goals. This program is especially beneficial to the students as it provides leadership and service opportunities, academic services and mentoring, as well as financial support. This is an excellent program creating a pipeline for Galveston students moving from local high schools to Galveston College and then on to Texas A&M University at Galveston."
