TAMUG Recognizes Exceptional Faculty & Staff

GALVESTON, TEXAS Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) recently recognized outstanding faculty and staff during the Thirteenth Annual Faculty & Staff Symposium held at Moody Gardens on Friday January 4, 2008. Four faculty and staff members were recognized for exemplary service over the past year. Receiving the awards were Lowell Boudreaux for Outstanding Classroom Teaching, Cheryl Grefenstette-Moon for Student Relations, Carmel Julian for Distinguished Staff (non-classified) and Lupe Aaron for Distinguished Staff (classified). Sarah Wall was awarded Employee of the Year.

In addition, those faculty and staff who celebrated a landmark year in their service with TAMUG were recognized: J.B. Revilla, Sr., Maribell Reyes, Ken Bailey, Cory Froelich, Carmel Julian, Rita Koenig-Mueggler, Anthony S. Martinez, Fred Olson, Vijay Panchang, Zoila Ramos, Robert Reeves, Willie Spurlock, Susan Stakes, David Wentling and Patsy Witter, each with five years; Stacie Arms, Jim Atchley, Matilde Carranza, Carol Evans, Miguel Gonzalez, Cheryl Grefenstette-Moon, Sherron Howard, Teddy Concepcion Paz, William Russell and Elizabeth Turner, each with ten years; Julius Mejia, Jr. with fifteen years; Natalie Weist, John Merritt and William McMullen with twenty-five years; and William Seitz with thirty years of service.

Opening remarks for the symposium were given by Dr. R. Bowen Loftin, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of TAMUG. Guest speakers for the event were RADM William W. Pickavance, Jr. ’68 and Dr. Rodney P. McClendon, who will join TAMUG in March to serve as Executive Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
