Texas A&M University at Galveston versus Galveston
College
Dr. Bowen
Loftin and Dr. Myles Shelton, president of Galveston College, have challenged
each other for the 2007 State Employee Charitable Campaign
(SECC). At stake - school pride - the campus with the largest contribution
to the SECC will win. The loser will be forced to wear a baseball cap from
the opposing school for one week.
In 2006,
Texas A&M University at Galveston won the contest. Galveston College flew
a Texas A&M University at Galveston Flag over their campus for a week.

Dr. Bowen
Loftin and Fred Olson present then
Interim Galveston College President William Auvenshine
with the Texas A&M University at Galveston Flag in 2006.
This year
there will be many opportunities for our campus community to participate in the
campaign.

Send Someone to Jail for Charity
Another opportunity will be
“Send Someone
to Jail for Charity”. This “someone” can include your professors, co-workers,
roommates, friends; ANYONE on campus. A warrant will be issued for whomever you
choose to send to jail. Bond will be preset at $2 for 5 minutes (up to a 30
minute maximum per arrestee). Pre-arrest bonds are to be paid
for in advance in the TAMUG Police Department. Contact Anita Palfrey to purchase a
pre-arrest bond. At a specified time on October 23rd between 10 a.m.
and 2 p.m. the person you are having sent to jail will be picked up with a
warrant by a TAMUG Police Officer and delivered to the jail.
For all you “would-be felons”,
you may bond yourself out of jail by simply paying the amount of the bond on the
warrant. Sorry, no “Get Out of Jail Free” cards will be issued. In the event
you do not have the money to pay your bond, you do get one phone call to raise
the money. Otherwise, you will remain in jail until your release.
Have Your Picture Taken with Miss Texas USA -
Crystle Stewart
Miss Texas USA, Crystle Stewart, will be on
campus on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. For a $5 donation, you may have your

(weather permitting). Digital photos will be taken and printed on-site.
Roses
One such opportunity will be the sale of roses.
Roses will be available for only $1 each or $12
per dozen.
Orders will be taken from Monday, September 24 through Thursday, September 27,
2007. Please make your payment when you place the
order. Contact Tina Pennington in the Human Resources Office at
409-740-4532 or Anita Palfrey in the Campus Police Department at 409-741-7137 to
purchase the roses. Roses will be delivered to campus
