Kirby Recognizes TAMUG Scholarship Recipients
GALVESTON, TEXAS – Steve Valerius, President of Kirby Inland Marine, LP met with scholarship recipients from Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) on Friday January 18, 2008 for a recognition ceremony and breakfast. Scholarships were awarded to six students based on full-time enrollment as deck cadets in the License Option program of the Texas Maritime Academy at TAMUG. In addition, these cadets were required to have completed all necessary pre-requisite courses for junior cruise, to be in good academic standing, and to have demonstrated leadership evidenced by participation and positions held in student organizations, activities, and the Corps of Cadets. Recipients for the 2007-2008 academic year were Jeffrey Gowen, Kevin McDonald, Gabriel Ashworth, Joseph Sebes, Lane Frisbie and Glenn Younger. Frisbie graduated from TAMUG in December and received his commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy.
