TAMUG Dedicates Honor Guard to William C. Hearn
GALVESTON, TEXAS – Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) along with the Texas Maritime Academy formally dedicated their first honor guard of the twenty-first century on Friday, January 18, 2008. The guard was named in honor of William C. Hearn, who retired on Friday after more than thirty-three years of service with Texas A&M University at Galveston. The honor guard was presented at Hearn’s retirement ceremony. He and his wife Mary entered the ceremony under a saber arch orchestrated by the honor guard. The honor guard was formally dedicated by Corps of Cadets Corps Commander Matthew White. The newly formed honor guard is composed of fifteen cadets, representing the diversity of the Texas Maritime Academy and TAMUG. Cadets were chosen to be a part of the guard based on their individual knowledge of Texas A&M and Texas Maritime Academy traditions, pride in the Corps of Cadets, precision in uniform appearance, and involvement in campus activities outside of the Corps of Cadets.
