Texas A&M University at Galveston Confers Degrees

 Galveston, TexasTexas A&M University at Galveston hosted the 2007 Fall Commencement Exercises on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the 1894 Grand Opera House in Galveston. Over 100 students received their diplomas during the ceremony.

Students received degrees as follows:

Ms. Julie Nelson, Deputy Maritime Administrator, conveyed greetings and congratulations on behalf of the White House and the Department of Transportation.

Mr. Marty Holmes of the Association of Former Students inducted the graduates into the Association.

Dr. Stanton Calvert, Vice Chancellor for Governmental Relations for the Texas A&M University System extended greetings and congratulations from the Chancellor, Dr. Mike McKinney.

The Commencement address was delivered by Dr. Bernd Würsig, a Regents Professor of Marine Biology at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Dr. Würsig is known for his work with marine mammals.

RADM Allen Worley of the Texas Maritime Academy, Commander Brian Hall of the Coast Guard presented licenses. Lieutenant Commander David Daigle of the United States Navy commissioned Ensign Lane Frisbie.

Dr. R. Bowen Loftin, Vice President and CEO of Texas A&M University at Galveston conferred the degrees.

Special guests included Dr. David Callender, President of UTMB; and Board of Visitors Representative and Marine Transportation graduate, Captain Jonathan Cook, Class of 1985.
