Aggie Scholars Honored

On November 14, 2007, Texas A&M University at Galveston recognized its highest achieving students at the annual Aggie Scholars Banquet held at Fisherman’s Wharf.  Coordinated by the Office of Academic Enhancement, this event celebrates students’ hard work and effort into their educational goals. Students need to have achieved and maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade average the previous academic year to be designated as an Aggie Scholar.  One-hundred and seventy-four TAMUG students reached this distinguished level of achievement.

Students in attendance were called individually to be congratulated by TAMUG CEO and Vice President Dr. R. Bowen Loftin, where he then provided them a special pin designating them as an Aggie Scholar.  Family, friends, faculty, and administration shared in the achievement of these special students.  Faculty congratulations were provided by Mr. David Lawhon, Director and Lecturer in the Department of General Academics.    

The Office of Academic Enhancement has as its mission to provide and promote services that help students adjust to the academic expectations faced by attending a research university.  Along with support services such as peer tutoring and supplemental instruction, Academic Enhancement also produces programming to promote success and achievement.
