Student Employee of the Year Reception

Texas A&M University at Galveston hosted their sixth annual Student Employee of the Year Reception on April 16, 2008 to recognize the important role that student workers hold on-campus.

Melanie Britton was recognized as the TAMUG Student Employee of the Year. Britton is a sophomore who is double-majoring in Marine Biology and Marine Transportation. She works with the Marine Biology department and is the Public Relations Officer for the Texas Maritime Academy. In addition to receiving a plaque, Britton will receive a $500 scholarship in recognition of her hard work and dedication.

Additional nominees for the award included Carlos Ruiz, Karen Montague, Travis March, Kevin McDonald, Joseph Carlin, Julia "Shae" Krause, and Ashley Shriver.

To qualify to be nominated, student employees must meet several requirements including grade point average and length of employment. The award recipient is then selected by a selection committee. The ceremony was hosted as a part of National Student Employment Week.
