Students at Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG)
benefit from the association with faculty members who operate 17 different research institutes, centers, programs, and laboratories. The average number of research dollars per faculty member is among the highest in Texas public colleges and universities. From exploring underwater caves in Mexico to studies of Galveston bay, practical experience is an integral part of the learning process at TAMUG.

Field trips, research exercises, and ocean voyages provide students with practical, hands-on experience in their major. Undergraduate students also have many opportunities to become involved in the research projects carried out by individual faculty members or by the research institutes at TAMUG.
