Education: Mr. Bateman graduated
from the University of Michigan in 1979 with a
Bachelors of Science in Mathematics. He received his
Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from
the Naval Postgraduate School in 1993.
Mr. Bateman retired from the United
States Navy in 1995. While in the Navy he was a
Nuclear Submarine officer serving on 3 separate
submarines and 2 tours at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
His background in the Navy centered on the
operation, maintenance, and repair of submarines.
During his final tour he was the Project Manager for
shipyard level repairs for the submarines stationed
on the Norfolk Naval Base.
After retiring Mr. Bateman spent
nearly 5 years at Peterson Ship Repair in Ingleside,
Texas. He worked as the Project Manager and
Production Manager performing shipyard level
maintenance and repair for the Naval Minesweeping
Fleet stationed at Ingleside. During this period he
also taught mathematics as an adjunct faculty member
for Park University and Saint Leo University
extension campuses located in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Mr. Bateman's research interests
include Remotely Operated Vehicles and Autonomous
Underwater Vehicles.
