Biography

Dr. Jin joined TAMUG in January 2003 after spending five years at the University of Central Florida where he got his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. There he conducted research in seismic performance and design of steel moment frame buildings. He also served as a Research Assistant at the University of Hong Kong and Structural Engineer in an engineering company in Tianjin, China.

His research experience includes design, analysis, field testing and model testing of offshore platforms and high-rise buildings.

Dr. Jin is an Associate member of ASCE.

  • M.S. in Structural Engineering (1994), Tianjin University, Tianjin, China

  • B.S. in Naval Architecture (1991), Harbin Engineering University, Harbin, China

Dr. Jin’s research interests include:

  • Dynamic behavior and design of offshore structures, Design of Steel and Concrete structures,

  • Nonlinear analysis of structures, Seismic behavior of structures, Performance based design,

  • Computational Mechanics, Wave-structure Interaction, Material engineering,

  • and Finite Element Analysis.
